A Random Act Of KINDness [Giveaway!]

One great thing about having Monday off is that it’s already the middle of the week. Before you know it, it will be Friday again! I’m already dreaming about the weekend…

But for now, I want to talk a little about an awesome company called KIND. I’ve been a fan of KIND bars for a few years now. I discovered them when I cut gluten out of my diet a few years ago (to see if I had an allergy, and have since added it back). I think the very first kind I ever tried was Fruit + Nut Delight, and I loved it right away. I loved how simple the ingredients were, and that it just tasted so darn good.

So when the girls behind the Blend retreat conducted the raffle and announced a “one month supply of KIND products” as a prize, I had my fingers crossed. And as luck would have it- I won!

When I got back home, I emailed an employee from KIND to redeem my prize. I was so excited to get my shipment and started reading up on their website a bit to learn about the company.

Here’s what I found:

KIND is a brand of all natural whole nut and fruit bars made from ingredients you can see and pronounce and it’s also a movement that gives new purpose to snacking.

At KIND we do things a bit differently.

KIND was founded on the principle of holistic kindness, and we pride ourselves on creating new paths that avoid false compromises. Instead of “Or” we say “And”. We choose healthy and tasty, convenient and wholesome, economically sustainable and socially impactful.

I’m definitely a big fan of their philosophy and not having to compromise taste for a healthy snack!

When my shipment arrived from KIND last week, I was blown away!

I received 11 different flavors of KIND bars and 6 flavors of healthy grains!

The two types of bars are Fruit + Nut and KIND PLUS bars (which contain extra protein or antioxidants).

Here’s a close-up view of the yummy ingredients that make up the Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio PLUS bar:

This bar was so good.

I even just love what it says on the box! Everything is so easy to read and straight forward- really great for anyone that has special dietary needs or food allergies.

I haven’t tried all of the flavors yet, but I think I’d say that Almond & Apricot is my favorite. Maybe.

While I was quite familiar with KIND’s snack bars, I had never tried their other great line of products before- the Healthy Grains. I didn’t know what to expect when I heard that I would be getting some “healthy grains,” but was happy to see that it was granola.

Check out the flavors:

The Healthy Grains come in big clusters, and are also full of nothing but real, quality ingredients. I could dive right into the bowl Dark Chocolate Cranberry clusters…

Having this much delicious granola in my pantry is dangerous. :)

Since the folks at KIND were so “kind” to send me much more than a “1 month supply” of KIND bars and Healthy Grains, I want to share the love with some of you! I will randomly pick two winners to send a package of assorted KIND bars and Healthy Grains to.

So here’s what I want to know: What’s something “kind” that you have done for someone (or even yourself!) recently? Or what is something “kind” that someone has recently done for you?

I can’t wait to hear your answers!

I will choose two winners on Sunday, June 3rd at 8 pm EST.

*Open to U.S. Residents only

  1. Yesterday was full of “kind”ness at a Wellness Center that caters to the 55+ and those in need of assistance (handicap, dementia, blindness, ms, etc). Last night was a stormy night with rain, thunder and lightening and a client with spina bifida needed to get down the ramp to her car. Instead of her fending for herself and possibly electrocuting herself, I took her keys and pulled her car around to the start of the ramp and had her hold onto my arm to get to her car. Everyday is a blessing when you can take the time to help another.

  2. Something kind I did recently for someone was to help her load her groceries in her car on my way by, as I could see she was struggling. The favor was returned when I dropped a bag while shopping at the mall and didn’t realize it, someone picked it up and gave it to me.

  3. What a great giveaway AND questions! :) You are so sweet to share your supply!!!!

Something kind that someone did for me just yesterday was that my cousin picked me up from the bus depot on very short notice! I had to spend to evening with him because I had to do training for work the next day, but he was so sweet and completely dropped everything and helped me out since I am from out of town. He picked me up from the bus depot, hung out with me all night, let me stay in his freshly washed bed (nicest guy ever, huh?), and drove me to my training!

I am so blessed to have such an amazing family :)

    Have a great day sweetie

  4. I love KIND bars! Never had their granola though. A kind thing I have done recently is cook my friend dinner when she was ill. :)

  5. i love KIND! I need to try theri granola next. I bet it would be good in healthy bites. I can’t believe you won a months supply! SO COOL! My husband is kind to me everyday. The power just went out here on the island (our house at least) and he drove up to the nearest coffee shop to get my coffee. What a kind kiddo. i love that man!

  6. I’m working to plan my mother’s retirement party!

  7. These sound and look delicious and what an awsome package they sent you!!

I don’t know if this is open to Canadian residents, but I thought I would post anyway :)

Last week my sister, dad and I surprised my mom with a flight to come see my sister and I for her 50th birthday. While she was here we also surprised her with a weekend away to visit her best friend of 40+ years who she hasn’t seen since 1999. It was a great visit and I loved seeing how surprised my mom was :)

  8. Those look delicious! I’ve tried the basic flavor, but would love to branch out. I recently made a special CD for the kids I look after to listen to while we’re in the car. It has all their favorite Michael Jackson songs on it!!

  9. I still can’t believe this was the swag. Something kind someone has done for me? My technician always surprises me with Starbucks in hand when she knows it’s going to be a rough day at work!

  10. Oooh! I love KIND bars! :) I’m game!

My oldest niece just graduated from middle school and she’s kind of a total rockstar (she got a full ride to the best Catholic high school in her city on a half academic, half athletic scholarship). To celebrate her awesomeness, I commissioned an Etsy artist to custom make her necklace with her favorite colors, initials and a coin that says, “Enjoy the journey!”. I hope she loves it!

  11. What a fun giveaway! I was recently “kind” to my in-laws. My mother-in-law is a nurse who often works long hours, so I cooked supper for her and my father-in-law.

  12. Ah! Best giveaway!! I love KIND bars, and I really want to try that granola.

Last night I brought my concierge dinner – it was pretty god, so I think it was kind. :)

  13. Wow, that’s a lot of KIND bars! I didn’t realize they made granola, but if it’s anything like their bars, I will probably be a huge fan. My husband was especially kind to me at the end of last week – he’s been working long hours, and surprised me with flowers and takeout (and turned off his cell phone!) when I got home from a spin class. SO nice to get to spend some quality time together without interruptions from email, phone calls, etc.

  14. I would love to try KIND products!!!! I recently had my in-laws visit for almost a week, I made sure to go out of my way to entertain them and cook some great healthy meals!!!

  15. The cranberry chocolate is the BEST. I had that and the PB in our house for … oh, about 2 days (Mark has yet to figure out what a serving of granola — or cereal — looks like).

Speaking of Mark … he’s been beyond ridiculously awesome lately. He put away all the laundry the day before I left for Austin, except for mine, which he put on hangers and laid out on my bed so I could pick things to pack. And on Monday he cleaned up the ridiculous mess left by our roommate and friends the night/morning (UGH) before and made sure to wake me up before noon (though I didn’t get to sleep until about 5 AM b/c of the noise) because he knew my day would suck on Tuesday if I woke up late. AND (yes there’s an and) he has been making dinners lately because I’ve been working and he’s been working at home reading papers and doing research to write his thesis.

Ladies: He has a brother. ;)

  16. P TO THE S: Thank you for sharing your prize with everybody! I wouldn’t be so … KIND.

  17. runnrjo says:

I hae a lot of friends in the military, so I regularly put together large care packages to mail to deployed friends. Of course, they always include some homemade baked goods!

  18. Blueberry and pistachios is my favorite! I help out my mom everyday with cleaning, cooking, etc. She calls me her house wife ;)

  19. I make my fiance’s peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every morning and put it on the counter with a Larabar (which makes me think I would love the kind bars since both bars have such simple ingrediants, which is so great!), apple and little note for the day. Because I wake up before him and don’t get to see him in the mornings, my gesture is a way to show him that I’m thinking about him and trying to always take care of him :) :) :)

  20. They really hooked you up with those bars! My friends were kind enough to be my sugar mamas for the weekend because all of my cards were acting up and not working. My turn to be kind and pay them all back with lunch this week :D

  21. They weren’t kidding about a month’s supply!! Lol. Something kind someone did for me was they just told me my dress was unbuttoned (just one button in back!) at the office. OOOPS!!! Someobody needs to start looking in the mirror before they go out the door. I’ve been trying to be kind at the office by doing some fun monotonous scanning for people at the office during our busy time of the month!

  22. Ashley F says:

My husband and I live in an apartment complex for the time being— anyways- we were BBQing the other night on 1 of the 2 BBQ’s at the complex and a random family was using the other one. Our dinner was taking FOREVER to cook and I guess the dad in the family heard me complain. After his family had finished eating he brought us paper plates, napkins and full plates and insisted we take them as they had cooked too much food. I couldn’t believe how kind some stranger was to share their memorial day dinner with my husband and I. I found it to be really touching.

  23. I’ve been making an effort to help out around the house more often and clean dishes when no one asks me to. I like a clean kitchen!

  24. A kind thing I’ve done for myself lately is the post I just wrote on my blog about the differences losing 110 pounds has made in my life.. I try to forget about my past life being overweight and have felt ashamed, but I was inspired to never forget how far it’s brought me. I also think it was kind for those who have the same feelings but have felt ashamed of admitting them!

  25. i LOVE kind bars!! the’yre soo soo good!! ive never tried their granola either..im sure its awesome!

so, something kind that ive done recently is made my husband homemade antelope burgers last night along with lots of other goodies! i know he appreciates a yummy dinner so i try to actually make one from time to time haha.

something kind someone did for me is my friend stopped by on sunday and brought us a sweet baby towel and picture frame since we’re expecting in september. very sweet!

  26. Elizabeth says:

My boyfriend cleaned out my car last week (vacuumed, took out the floor mats, everything), because my car was getting kind of filthy, and he knows that I hate cleaning the inside of the car. It was really wonderful (and very kind) of him!

  27. This morning I woke up early to drive my son to football so my husband could sleep in. Then I made a smoothie for him when i returned home. I know he was happy to have the extra sleep (and he always loves my smoothies!).

  28. Melissa G says:

What a great giveaway! Something kind I did for my fiance the other day was made him a super healthy lunch when he came home for lunch last week. A real rarity that he gets enough time to come home and he usually just goes into the doctors lounge and scrounges whatever he can get his hands on. He totally appreciated it and I love seeing him eat healthy so I guess it’s a win win for me too!

  29. Something kind I’ve done recently was drive my parents to BWI airport, even though I live in VA (SO FAR :)) And something kind for me is my friends signing up to be on a charity bowling team for a volunteer trip I am going on this summer. I am so, SO grateful for that!

  30. I was having a rough start of the summer (my father in law was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer), and my boss bought me a set of adorable tea plates (randomly) that I absolutely love, and would never buy for myself. It was so sweet!

  31. I feel kind of like I should be overflowing with “kindness” examples – a plethora to choose from to write about for this post. (Which I love this post/giveaway idea btw!!) It took me a little while to rack my brain (maybe just b/c I’m so busy with work?!?!) but I did do something nice for someone recently. The administrative assistant at Kaela’s Montessori preschool (who is in her mid 20s) was recently re-diagnosed with cancer. She had fought it, and won for the past year… but got the devastating news that it had come back – and aggressively – just a few weeks ago :( She’s sooooooooo young – the whole thing is just AWFUL. Before this news I had arranged a playdate with Kaela’s bff from school, Abby, so when I got the news about Rosemary, I suggested to Abby’s mom that we take pictures of the girls holding signs for Rosemary. I made big yellow hearts and covered them with encouraging messages and bandaids: “Be Strong Rosemary” “Feel Better Soon” etc. The girls held them up as they jumped on the trampoline, not a care in the world, giggling and overflowing with joy. I captured the moment (albeit a bit blurry from all the jumping) and emailed them over to Rosemary who is in the hospital undergoing chemo. She said they definitely brightened her day!! She is still in the hospital, trying to gain enough strength to be airlifted to Texas to undergo further chemo/treatment where her family lives. Please pray/send happy thoughts for her. Thanks <3 PS. I can email you the pics if you want, they're really sweet.

  32. My DH and I moved our son and pregnant wife into their new house. She’s in her third trimester and couldn’t really lift anything, so we were the “packhorses”.

  33. Kristin says:

I work at an at-risk preschool and recently brought in a bag of children’s clothing for the siblings of my students.

  34. I love KIND bars…what an awesome giveaway!

I always try to be kind as a good example for our two kids. It’s amazing how much they pick up from following your example! I get up on the weekends with the kids, so my husband can sleep in a little…he gets up all week with them while I’m at the gym!

  35. WOW! You are so KIND ;)

Someone gave me a kind compliment on my eyes today. It was SO sweet!

I wrote a note to my husband yesterday-and told him a few reasons why I love him. I think that’s pretty kind ;)

  36. Melissa says:

My husband was KIND enough to give me a back rub yesterday after I’d had a long, crappy day of work.

  37. One of my spin class instructors was KIND to pick up my MS150 bike packet and turned in my fundraising money for me so I did not have to drive to Va. Beach to get it for my big bike ride this weekend! 150 miles for the National MS Society with 7 friends too. Ride like the wind!

  38. KIND is the best – the almond and apricot bar is my fav too :) While my mom and I were out getting things ready for my upcoming wedding, my fiance spent the day doing all the yardwork and cleaning the kitchen! Super KIND of him! Just wanted to say that I love your blog and that I moved from DC to Colorado 7 years ago and I share your love of Colorado, the mountains, and all the healthy living that goes on out here! I hope you can move out here one day!

  39. Lindsay says:

Something kind I did with my daughter last week was to fly to Minnesota for a week so we could both celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. We planned a birthday celebration with all of her children, grandchildren and great grand children which my daughter and I organized (I flew back from Idaho and she flew back with her 2 kids from Washington). We all bought striped sweaters ($8 from the Gap) and took an awesome family picture. I had everyone send photos to my niece in Minnesota of pictures throughout my mom’s life from the time she was a baby until now. My niece made an awesome dvd – my mom loved it. Some of the pictures she had not seen for years. We made salmon cakes and Manhattan chowder and everyone brought something great to eat. It turned out to be a huge celebration for the most amazing woman I know.

  40. Iris Lee says:

I made my mom dinner tonight! We had a nice time eating and relaxing – so it was KIND for both of us, in a way!

  41. Alexandra C says:

I did something “kind” when I visited my aunt who’s husband had just passed away and brought her flowers. It ended up being a kind act to myself as well as it really put things on perspective and helped me to appreciate who I am and what I have in life instead of dwelling on what I am not :) fantastic giveaway!! Thanks so much !

  42. I am an elementary school teacher who has volunteered to teach summer school. I spent my “fritter” money for goodies I can do with out to buy bottled water, sunscreen, and crayons for the kiddos. However, the reward of their happy smiles makes it well worth it They will remember me as someone who cares about them!

  43. You are so sweet to share your prize! I bought my friend ice cream this afternoon after we went hiking. Also, yesterday I was having a horrible day at work, and my coworker bought me Starbucks!

  44. Yesterday my kind moment would have involved not punching idiot customers in the face…it was a bad day.
Today is a whole different story – people were actually kind to me, I love it when they genuinely thank me for doing my job, makes all the difference in the world. Makes me want to dig coffee grounds out of the trash to relocate them into a bucket so you can use them in your garden…

  45. My husband has been redoing our bathroom. He comes home from work after a long day and gets started on the bathroom project even though I know he is exhausted! He is very sweet. :-)

  46. Jennifer says:

I’m teaching my own college class this semester for the first time. One day after class, a student stayed and told me I was doing a great job so far… such a simple act of kindness, but it made my day!

  47. I got into a car accident recently, and even though my car is drive-able, it looks awful. My best friend and my coworkers all offered to let me drive one of their vehicles in the meantime.

  48. Something Kind I’ve done for myself – hike in the mountains of Colorado! Something Kind I’ve done for others – stayed an extra week at work to ensure transition was smooth instead of taking a week off between jobs! :)

  49. Cristina says:

What a great company! I just discovered KIND bars earlier in the year and I am officially addicted!

My boyfriend has a pretty stressful job, (in NYC crunching numbers in a cubical all day kind of stressful) I give him scalp massages and face rubs when he has a particularly busy day…and just because i love him :)

Something kind done for me, I am a high school teacher and many of my students rallied with each other to vote me “Teacher of the Month”. It worked! I love them too :)

  50. I reached out to someone who had said something meanish to me on FB- it was definitely better to extend the olive branch.

  51. Today I was complaining to my friend about how my heel was bothering me (I wear mocs everywhere, which I love, but they are terrible for my feet). She recommended that I get inserts for the shoes – and I agreed. And then later when she was on her way out of town (cause she was moving!) – she texted me and told me to look in my entryway. There were two pairs of shoe inserts! It was just a kind and thoughtful thing – I was blown away. Also, they are REALLY comfortable – why have I never worn them before?

  52. i washed my roommate’s dishes for her the other night :)

  53. i helped hand make flower pieces for my cousin’s wedding. we had to create the center piece and create the bow to glue it on.The center piece took a while. we had to super glue about 17 rhinestones on each flower and pearls on the base of the center piece.

  54. I am an elementary school librarian and have been trying to promote our e-book and audio collection via Overdrive. This past week after school, our last week of school, I was able to connect with multiple parents with tight budgets to teach them how to use the app to download titles for their children (my students). I was thrilled that I took the time to show these parents this valuable tool to support our school’s readers! Word is spreading that I helped these parentsvand othersvare now seeking my help via e-mail. Yeah for a library that is accessible 24/7 and during the summer when our school district’s libraries are closed. P.S. KIND bars rock. I love the almond and walnut one.

  55. I’ve been out on the floor supporting my management team at work to help cover their callouts, meetings, or whatever other random things that happen to come up. It definitely takes me outside of my comfort zone sometimes but I’m hoping that I’m helping the overall good and running of our store.

Thanks for sharing your prize! It’s so KIND and I absolutely would love to try their products. Would you believe that I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them EVERYWHERE but never picked them up and tried them?

  56. The last kind thing I did was offering to watch the kids and give Travis the afternoon away! We both need that alone time and he rarely gets it!
(I’ve never even tried a KIND bar before…lame)
