Hello, my dear readers. I hope this week has been good to you, and that you have some fun activities in store for the weekend! It’s certainly been a long week- but it’s been full of good things! For today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on some of the awesome, wonderful things that have been happening in my life. After being crazy stressed out and just not feeling like myself over the last few months, things are finally starting to look up- and I’m certainly embracing it all! Meeting Bob Harper might have been the coolest thing that happened this week (um, or… ever?) but that’s pretty hard to compete with.
Here are some other happy things going on in my life currently:
The weather this past week has been absolutely beautiful- we’re talking 70s and sunny every day! I’ve been taking every opportunity to get outside. I’ve been hiking several times this week, and have had the trails all to myself some mornings.
I even took my client on Monday for a hike and to do some bodyweight/functional training at the lookout on the trail!
Still loving the panoramic feature on my iPhone… even if it does skew things a bit.
And of course, my hiking buddies have loved getting outside.
I just try to keep up with them on the crazy, steep hills!
The weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse… and I’m hoping that it holds off a bit for Sunday! And that brings me to happy thing #2:
Heather is coming into town this weekend to run the Marine Corps Marathon with her husband, Kirk! I am so excited to see them- it seems like only yesterday we were sampling beers in Colorado. I’m also hoping to find Allie, who is running the MCM too! The crazy Hurricane Sandy is supposed to wreack havoc on the east coast, and the forecast for Sunday isn’t looking good… I just hope the runners are comfortable, and I’ll still stand out in the rain to cheer them on!
Oh yeah… this is kind of a big deal. I got a new job! As a personal trainer, of course.
After lots of consideration, I decided to pursue Personal Training at the gym that I’ve been teaching at for years. I am super comfortable there and know so many of the members and staff- it was just a logical choice. I will be training clients from all demographics, and getting a ton of experience and diversity. My schedule will be kind of all over the place at first, but then it should settle in to something a little more structured. I’m really excited to get started and put my knowledge and skills to work!
I will still be training a few clients privately and teaching all of my Spinning, Bodypump and Core Strength classes- because I love doing all of those things. I’m also working on getting my lifestyle and weight management certificate right now. Whew!
I visited my good friend Krista yesterday (finally!) at her new house in Harper’s Ferry. She moved back in June, and this was the first time I’ve been out to see the new digs! I don’t see this girl nearly enough, and whenever we get together, it’s just like old times. We were partners in crime in high school and college and have so many hilarious memories and stories from the past. One of the coolest things about Krista’s new house is that she has chickens for pets! I got there right during feedin’ time.
Aren’t they cute?! She named them after the Golden Girls (as in Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia!)
Krista did extensive research before buying them, and got a breed that can just roam around her huge backyard (and they don’t run away!) and have the ability to live outdoors year-round. And, they should start laying eggs any day now! So darn cool.
I’m still working on the art of vegan cooking, and after a failed attempt at pancakes on Monday, I gave it another try on Wednesday. And this time, I actually had success!
The only problem was, these pancakes were SO good that I devoured them in about two minutes. I modified Amanda’s recipe to make a single serving and used a combination of oat and spelt flours. I topped them with grilled bananas and a combination of maple syrup and Justin’s vanilla almond butter. YUM.
And fyi- while you’re over at Amanda’s site looking up that awesome pancake recipe, check out her post about her new puppy. Warning: CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!
I’m kind of bouncing off the walls about this one. The other day, I purchased a round-trip plane ticket to my favorite place in the world… do I even need to say where that is?
Greg has to go out to Denver for work, so of course, I’m tagging along! We fly out Wednesday, November 14th and then come back home on Tuesday, November 20th. Greg will be working most of the time, but hopes to get out to the mountains to do some snowboarding on the weekend. Even if the conditions aren’t great, they will still be a lot better than any snow we have back home! Since I’ll have all of that time to myself, I plan to drive all over the place and get together with as many of my lovely Colorado friends as possible – so mark your calendars Tiffany, Lynne, Heidi, Heather Ba., Heather Bl., Corrie, Kelly P., Kelly G., Diana, Lena, Katie, Liz, Kim….plus a handful of other friends who are not bloggers! Geez, do I need to just move out there already and join all of these wonderful people or what?!
Have a fantastic weekend!!
Tell me something great going on in your life right now. Go!
