Monday Mega Brain Dump

Happy new week! I hope you had a fantastic weekend… and maybe you’re still celebrating your favorite football team’s win?

As much as I love all things Colorado (and Peyton Manning), I am a RAVENS fan forever.

Now I’m just hoping that they can finally make it back to the Superbowl. It’s been way too long!

Today’s post is basically a brain dump. I really don’t like that term, but that’s basically what it is! I was making a list of random things going on in my life currently and what has been happening recently, so here ya go:

- I threw my mom a surprise party for her 60th birthday on Saturday. It was a success! (Her birthday is actually next weekend, but she’ll be away at the beach!) I didn’t take any photos because I was too busy enjoying the time with my family… and honestly didn’t even think about picking up my camera. :)

- Greg cleaned out the garage this weekend. Umm…. we have a lot of bikes.

Or, I should say he has a lot of bikes- only one of them is mine. He’s been collecting them over a number of years.

- I also did some cleaning out this weekend, in the form of closets. It’s been way too long since I went through my clothing and made a big Goodwill donation. I’m happy to say that I have two very large trash bags full of clothing to donate! I still have to go through shoes (I think I still have shoes from college in my closet…), but I am already feeling much better about having less clutter around.

But this is what I’m having a hard time with:

That’s a stack of t-shirts from various races that I’ve done and a stack of jeans that I can’t fit into any more (they’re too small). The jeans are really nice and in great shape, and if I get back down to my goal weight, they should easily fit again. I’m going to hold on to them for a little while longer…

The shirts, I’m not sure what to do with. I don’t really wear any of them (well, I wear a few that are not pictured around the house or to bed) but I feel weird about throwing them away. I’m sure there are some creative ideas on Pinterest. If you have any ideas, please share!

While I was sorting out clothes, I found this:

It’s from my Bachelorette party. Since I was 31 when I got married, I wasn’t too keen on the idea of doing the typical Bachelorette party shenanigans that we had all done in our 20s. So, my amazing friends made a scavenger hunt all around downtown Frederick in the theme of “The Amazing Race,” since it’s one of my favorite shows. We divided up into teams and had to run all over and get clues and do “challenges” (anything from trivia to doing tequila shots to solving puzzles). It was one of the most fun days of my life- and definitely the best Bachelorette party I’ve ever been to!

- Bodypump 84 launches in less than two weeks. I had set a goal to have the first five tracks memorized by the end of the weekend. That didn’t happen. I’m pretty confident that I know the back and triceps tracks (and maybe biceps) but still need a lot of practice. I have a feeling that I’m going to be carving out at least an hour each day for the next 10 days to do just that. The good news is, the more experienced I’ve become as an instructor, the easier it seems to be to learn new choreography.

- I’m pretty impressed with how my home gym has grown.

I’ve been collecting equipment (and never say no to freebies!) over the last few years, and the only things I still really want are a few more kettlebells, another (heavier) medicine ball and a sandbag.

- Have you seen this clip on Youtube?

This kid goes to the high school that I taught at for seven years. Oh yeah, and I graduated from there, too. :)

- I love my dogs so much. They make me smile constantly and are one of the biggest blessings in my life. Non-dog people probably think I’m crazy, but I get excited when I pull up in the driveway, because I see their little faces waiting at the door.

Lance likes to stand over Jackson like this often (showing dominance?). Jackson doesn’t seem to mind.

Side note: Our Christmas decorations have been put away for a while now, but I still have that one wreath up. I can’t bring myself to take it down yet- it’s so pretty!

- Here’s three songs that I am obsessed with lately:

I really, really love the last one. I got to see David Gray at Constitution Hall when I was in college (3rd row!) and actually CRIED when he started singing.

- I pretty much live in my black American Apparel pants that pv.body sent me.

Like my self-timer skills?

I LOVE THEM! I actually wore them pretty much the entire weekend. If you haven’t checked out pv.body yet, click here to take your style quiz and get started! For just $49.95, you will be sent an athletic top and bottom specifically chosen for your personal workout style! And- when you order through this link, you will get 20% off your order!

pv.body also runs promotions and contests for members almost daily- how does a $300 gift card to Lululemon sound?

Don’t forget to enter to win a case of SIX packs of high protein flat bread from P28 Foods if you haven’t already. I’ll be choosing a winner at 8:00 EST tonight!

What do you need to “dump” from your brain?

Comments

  1. I love that Muse song too. And, since we are the same person, you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that we celebrated my FIL’s 60th birthday on Saturday.

My high school graduation was at Constitution Hall.

  2. Your dogs are ridiculous.

And I’m probably going to be at least 30 when I get married (maybe older the way things are going now.) … but I’m planning on doing the silly crap that everybody else does for their bachelorette anyway.

AND you have freaking awesome legs in that pic. And IRL. :)

  3. I checked out PV. Body and it looks awesome! I’m at least going to do one month of it! Have you gotten any other cool things from there?

  4. Kat Cuttitta says:

Yeah- this was a great post but all I feel the need to comment on is that your legs look amazing, lol!

  5. I should really go through my clothes for donating again soon. I have a pair of jeans I’ve decided to part with, they still fit me but I don’t FEEL great in them which should be reason enough for them to go. I’ve had them for several years so I definitely got my moneys worth.

  6. I kind of hate Muse but I kind of freakin’ love that song, it’s so catchy! I need to find something to do with my race shirts too, I still wear a lot of them (I’m too cheap to buy new running shirts)… but some of them reek so bad! I hate the idea of going out in a shirt that ALREADY stinks, but I don’t want to get rid of them – if I were crafty maybe I’d make some kind of quilt or at least frame them safely behind glass or something.

    • Yeah… I would guess that you have an entire closet full of race shirts! A quilt would be awesome, but I am definitely not crafty enough for that. I’m sure there’s someone who would love to make one though…

  7. You could make a t shirt blanket if you want to keep your old shirts around in some way. Here’s one tutorial available: http://www.starsforstreetlights.com/2012/03/diy-t-shirt-quilt.html There are many other websites with instructions as well.

  8. love love love your gym!

  9. You could make a quilt with your shirts! That would be jazzy! :)

  10. It was crazy here on Saturday with the Broncos game! I felt like I was back in Chicago and the Bears were in the play offs. Colorado likes its Broncos.
And your dogs. love. makes me want a golden!

  11. Great post, I really liked reading your “dumps!!” I’m completely jealous of your home gym. Once we get our home renovations underway I’m hoping to have room for one of my own…

Huge Ravens fan here too! That was the best game I’ve ever seen. And not really a “dump” at all but my bf popped the question right after the game ended so we were celebrating in more ways than one! Yay!

  12. We don’t have all the decorations down, we’re taking the slow & steady approach since it always is a little depressing. Actually Kirk’s doing most of the work, because he knows I HATE it!

  13. Your dogs really are sooo cute!

My husband has a bunch of bikes too!!! ;)

And yes, learning BP gets easier as time goes on, but there are some funky beats to catch. You’ve totally got this!

  14. Bummed about the Packers. Great home gym!

  15. Im going to do this http://pinterest.com/pin/88312842664897546/ , with some of my old race tshirts! Great memories!!

  16. I’m kind of happy the Broncos lost so people will stop talking about football so much here. Lol. And I feel the exact same way about my dogs. My sister thought I was crazy when she visited because whenever we were on our way home, I’d be like — I’m excited to see the dogs! Lol.

  17. And the gym looks amazing!

  18. Okay here’s a begging request….I live in DC and need a bike soooooo badly. WOuld you be willing to donate one or selll me one relatively cheap (I’m unemployed sort of right now…just dog walking for cash)

I’ll pickup whenever and wherever since think you live kind of close?

  19. A part of me died when Peyton lost that game. I’m a Peyton fan through and through. I think my husband almost shed a tear Saturday night. Sounds like you had a very productive weekend girl!! I need you down here to help me go through my closet. I can never get rid of anything!

  20. That was the craziest football game ever! Now that the Redskins are out of it, we have moved on to watching the Ravens!! Your gym looks awesome. Wish mine was brighter!!!

  21. Dogs really are one of mankind’s greatest gifts! I immediately bond with ‘dog lovers’…and I am highly suspicious of people who don’t like them, ha.

  22. I hate the term brain dump too. But I loved reading yours. :) I’m not even sure what to comment on first, last, or otherwise.

Random thought I keep having: every time I am at the gym and I hear ‘Stronger’ come from the studio, I think, “They must be doing Body Pump in there.” And then I think of you.

Can you come clean out my closet? Thanks.
