I’m a former artificial sweetener addict. Splenda was my drug of choice, but I also dabbled in Sweet ‘n Low and Equal if it was the only thing available. I would buy “sugar free” everything, and to be honest- it usually tasted like chemical crap. But I tricked myself into thinking that it tasted good. And the more I ate, the more I craved sugar! I started by adding 1 packet of Splenda to my coffee, and then it was two, three, four… I was actually becoming desensitized to the sweet flavor. And, on the occasion that I did have real sugar, watch out- I wanted things extra sweet. I know it sounds silly, but my addiction to artificial sweeteners was so strong- I literally craved sweet all day long. My hormones got all out of whack, my skin was constantly breaking out and I had a lot of trouble sleeping.
Back in 2009, I read Jillian Michaels Master Your Metabolism on the plane during my first trip ever to Colorado (in 2009). She talked a lot about artificial/chemical-laden foods, and that was enough to put the nail in the coffin. I quit cold turkey. That meant no more yellow, pink or blue packets, no more Diet Coke and no more sugar free this and that. And really, it was easy. My cravings subsided right away, and when I did eat “real” sugar, I was satisfied with a much smaller amount.
I started to look into natural sugars and sugar substitutes and using raw sugar, honey, and agave nectar. And then I started reading about stevia. To be honest, I really didn’t like it when I first tried it. It was a combination of bitter + too sweet, and just left a horrible aftertaste. The only kind I could stomach was a French Vanilla flavored powder from Whole Foods, and that was often hard to find. And then one day I tried NuNaturals stevia.
I was blown away! It tasted great- without that bitter taste that every other variety seemed to have! I started using it as a sugar substitute, and only needed a small amount due to it’s sweetness factor. Keep in mind- I still use sweeteners that do have calories- maple sugar is my sugar of choice. But, since sugar calories add up quickly (and are stored as fat in the body), I’m thankful that I found a variety of stevia that I really love. I haven’t just swapped out my artificial sweetener addiction for stevia- I can use small amounts of stevia and be satisfied, rather than several packets! Moderation is much nicer.
I train a lot of clients that buy into the “sugar-free” hype, and use the same pink, blue and yellow packets that I used to. I’ve given several of them packets of NuNaturals to try (because I like it so much!) and every single one of them has come back to tell me how much they like it (and that it was much better than any other stevia they had tried!)
NuNaturals was kind enough to send me some of their products to test drive last summer, including the orange and lemon flavored liquid stevia.
I used those to make some delicious recipes such as:
Orange Vanilla Cupcakes With Chocolate-Orange Frosting
High Fiber/Protein Cocoa-Orange Muffins
Lemon-Blueberry Protein Pancakes
Several months later, I am still just as big of a fan of the orange and lemon stevia as I was when I first tasted it!
NuNaturals was nice enough to send me a few of their latest products recently, including a chocolate and a peppermint flavored liquid stevia.
I was so excited to try both! On cold nights, I’ll put a few drops of peppermint stevia in my tea or hot cocoa. And the chocolate is great in Greek yogurt or for sweetening protein muffins! But really, when you just put a few drops of each into a glass of unsweetened almond milk… that is pure delight right there.
They also have some new products that are worth checking out, including another calorie free natural sweetener called Erythritol.
I’ve tried another brand of Erythritol before, and thought it had absolutely no taste. I used some of the NuNaturals brand in my protein muffin yesterday, and it was way better! Not overly sweet- but sweet enough.
Here’s the deal:
NuNaturals has offered to give FOUR lucky readers a few flavors to try out:
Four of you will receive a package containing the orange, lemon, chocolate and peppermint liquid stevia! You’ll be able to experiment and develop your own SWEET recipes (and hopefully you’ll share them with me!).

My favorite is cake! Or even better- cupcakes!
My favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream with either cookie dough crumbles or frozen thin mints crushed on top (it is Girl Scout season right
).
I am following you on twitter and here is my tweet about the giveaway!! https://twitter.com/absrogers/status/299876697736638464
I love the NuNaturals stevia I won last time! I used up the vanilla super fast, but still have a little orange and a lot of peppermint (which is great, but just seems to fit into fewer recipes)! I need to go explore that chocolate flavor….
I can’t stomach really rich desserts but give me a big bowl of vanilla pudding and animal crackers and I go to town!
I love frozen yogurt topped with chocolate, cereal, cany bars, oreos, and all the good stuff!!
i can never pick one favorite! I guess I’ll kind of go with those flavors: carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake, lemon bars, and brownies (i am a lady afterall)
I love peach/berry cobblers! Mmm the warm, sweet fruits with the chewy, doughy biscuit on top….make it a la mode and I am in Heaven!!
I tweeted (and follow you)!
I think my favorite dessert is bread pudding! I absolutely love the stuff. Haven’t had it in forever lol! Oh & I love NuNaturals stevia… They are a fav too!!

Cookie dough ice cream is my weakness in the dessert department!
My favorite dessert at the moment is cake batter dip (combine cake mix, 2 cups of Greek yogurt, and a tub of FF coolwhip, + sprinkles) and animal crackers!! SO good.
Just tweeted
Mmmmm a brownie sundae with a warm brownie, ice cream, and delicious toppings (including hot fudge)…I don’t know if it’s my most favorite favorite but it is up there!
How could I possibly choose one favorite dessert? I’m going with three: triple chocolate chunk Ghirardelli brownie sundae, Cheesecake Factory’s Adam’s Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple Cheesecake, and carrot cake with loads of cream cheese frosting.
Ahh such a tough choice!! I’d have to say my all time favorite is a hot out of the oven brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream on top! The combination of hot and cold is A-mazing and I am such a sucker for mint and chocolate flavors together!

Okay, I used to be totally against stevia because I thought it was like artificial sweeteners. Then I was against it because I thought it would contribute to my sugar cravings (it does). BUT I realized that I like stevia, and since I don’t keep sugar or agave or any of that on hand, I could use stevia for my sugar cravings instead. Um. Duh.
My favorite dessert ever is carrot cake. I made carrot cupcakes last weekend and they were devine. I would love to use the orange stevia to make a protein frosting and use vanilla protein to make a carrot cake mug-cake.
also, i tweeted.
chocolate chip cookies! but i really love carob covered almonds. i could eat buckets of them!
and I follow you on twitter. i realize i just won a giveaway of yours … but i really think stevia would help me with my quitting sugar experiment, so i’d really really like to win this (and I’m not going to give any of it away if I win! ha).
Red Velvet Cake
Although I am a major choco-holic, my all time favorite dessert is Arroz con Leche (Rice Pudding). My grandma used to make it all the time when I was little. Now that I have the recipe myself and realize how MUCH sugar is in it (no kidding like 3 cups) it would be great to find a natural substitute. Yum Yum! Great Giveaway!
This sounds like a great alternative to the Splenda that I am trying to wean myself off of! My absolutely favorite dessert is creme brulee – because it’s not something you can make easily, it signifies “special occasion” for me.
My favorite dessert is this molten lava cake (the kind that have gooey liquid chocolate inside that bursts out when you cut into it) my mom has made since I was little…Now she makes a dairy-free version for me that is still perfectly indulgent and nostalgic.
I tweeted about the contest
My favorite dessert is cheesecake with strawberrys !!!! Espically when it’s homemade. Oh my golly goodness deliciousness in my mouth !!

It is TRADER JOE’S COOKIE BUTTER PROTIEN PUDDING- ( cottage cheese, vanilla protien, greek yogurt, TJ’s cookie butter,a splash of almond milk, 1 Tsp vanila nut extract, and a few drops of NUNATURAL STEVIA) I blend it all togetherandthan throw some granola on top or crushed sprouted pretzels for a salty and sweet effect! My favorite dessert is classic chocolate cake with chocolate icing
I used to absolutely adore Tres Leches piled high with strawberries. However… I can’t eat refined sugar or gluten anymore. Not even honey! So I am very familiar with stevia and love it. Thanks for the giveaway! If I were on twitter I would definitely follow you.
My favorite dessert is definitely creme brulee! I LOVE it and if a restaurant has it on their menu, there are no questions about what I will order for dessert!
Ice cream hands down is the best…yummmmy coffee but any kind is usually good in my books.
Few squirts of the nutaurals my help me kill my sweet/low coffee addiciton…I hope (:
My favorite dessert is a little goodie I reserve for Christmas, it’s a white chocolate and peppermint cheesecake. Crazy delicious and rich and that’s why I make it once a year!
I love peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate chips.
Ohhh my, it’s sooo difficult to choose my favorite dessert! I would either go with my stepmom’s homemade brownies from scratch, a pizookie (underbaked ginormous cookie topped with ice cream), or no bake cookies (chocolate, peanut butter, oats, sugary, buttery goodness!).

I love most any dessert! Recently it’s been my pumpkin oatmeal chocolate chip cookies or Bluebell icecream, they didn’t have pistachio at the store today so we got the Kentucky flavor. Living in Ky i figured it would be a good one to try

My favorite dessert is Sabayon cream with strawberries.
My favorite healthy dessert is Dark chocolate almond butter!
Red Velvet Cake with soft buttery cream cheese icing with 5 gorgeous layers! Yum!
I used to love McDonald’s McFlurrys. Back in high school, I rarely ate at any fast food establishments, but I’d grab an Oreo McFlurry after a soccer game without a second thought! These days, you couldn’t pay me to eat one, but I found a better alternative. I’ll take a pint of Vanilla Maple Arctic Zero and crumble a chocolate brownie Clif Bar all over it. It’s a killer dessert, but its even a pretty great breakfast before a mid morning/early afternoon weekend workout, since it’s packed with protein, but not heavy with fat or sugar.
My favorite dessert is carrot cake. So delicious!
My favorite dessert is either my mom’s carrot cake brownie a la mode with mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Key lime pie! Or coconut cheesecake! Or simple ol froyo! Ah, I just can’t decide
I’ve been wanting to try NuNaturals for a while, so this is a great giveaway! My favorite dessert is a simple chewy chocolate chip cookie…no crunchy cookies for me – underbaked is the best!
Ooh! What an awesome giveaway! I’ve heard so much about NuNaturals but I cant find any in my small college town..I’d love to try them out in pancake, breads, cupcakes, cakes, cookies and more! My fav dessert would have to be anything carrot cake and i am a sap for cheesecake and tiramisu!! thanks for the chance!!
I follow you on Twitter too.
Ice cream! I know it’s not healthy but at least it has calcium
In my opinion a good dessert is never healthy. My favorite is a homemade thick fudgy brownie topped with a heaping layer of peanut butter cookie dough (eggless) and a nice layer of chocolate ganache.
I follow you on Twitter and tweeted: https://twitter.com/FireRunner2379/status/300316762812059649.

I would love to use that NuNatural in my tiramisu recipe! I normally use a cup of white sugar but this would be a good opportunity to try whipping the NuNaturals in ribbons of mascarpone, as well as the over-caffeinated/drunken ladyfingers… hope I’ll get the chance to try it out (esp with all of the fun flavors!
