Ahhhh, Friday. It’s always so good to see you!
I hope that all of you had a great week- and a fantastic Valentine’s Day, no matter how you celebrated it (or if you didn’t at all!). If you didn’t get a chance to check it out yesterday, I’ve got a KIND giveaway going on until Monday night. They always hook the winners up big time- so go enter!
Also, in case you missed it, I announced the winners of the NuNaturals giveaway earlier today.
Despite living a bit in limbo right now and trying to be really patient about the house selling… things are pretty good. It was a great week full of celebrating lots of fun things, and I’m enjoying being 33! Valentine’s Day isn’t a big deal to me, and that probably has a lot to do with the fact that it falls just two days after my birthday. But, I do like any reason to remind my loved ones how I feel about them, because that’s never a bad thing!
I was greeted by this sleepy face in the morning… and it really doesn’t get much better than that.
I can’t forget my other furry Valentine, who is always right there ready to pose.
Ahh, I love them. I bet you already knew that.
I didn’t have any clients scheduled until the afternoon, so shortly after a kickboxing workout and some breakfast I headed down south to stock up at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. They happen to be within a few miles of each other, but are also a good 40 minutes from my house! I go once or twice a month to get my staples and then restock when needed. The major purpose of yesterday’s trip was to pick up a Turbot filet from Whole Foods for dinner. Have you had turbot before? It is the most delicious, flaky, buttery fish ever. And I can never find it anywhere except for Whole Foods! I really hope they sell it in Colorado.
I started at Whole Foods and was definitely side-tracked by a few items that were not on my list, but I had to try. Amongst them was this root beer.
I’m not a big soda drinker, and have had exactly one Diet Coke in the last four years. I will occasionally drink a Virgil’s Diet Root Beer or a Zevia (both sweetened with stevia), but this Honest Fizz caught my eye. It’s sweetened with erythritol- and it tasted delicious!
And do you see my awesome reusable grocery bags? Those are one of my favorite things. They’re made by Envirosax and they fold up really small so you can keep them in your purse (which I do all the time). They’re really cute and come in all kinds of fun patterns- and super durable! I’ve had the one on the far right for about 2 years now and it’s as good as new.
I also bought this giant bottle of Smart Water.
I don’t usually buy bottled water because the tree-hugger in me likes to carry a reusable bottle around all the time, but I had forgotten to grab one on my way out. This sucker was over 50 oz., and I drank it all!
And that leads me to this… the bathroom at Trader Joe’s.
There were rose petals all over the floor. Romantic, huh?
Greg was out getting a deep-tissue massage when I got home, but these were waiting for me!
I think that getting flowers is the best thing ever. Greg knows that.
I went out to train some clients in the afternoon and got back home in the early evening. Greg and I decided to cook dinner at home, because frankly, I’m sick of going out to eat. I would choose eating dinner at home 9 times out of 10 (preferably while wearing sweatpants), and we cooked one of our favorite meals:
Turbot with a little olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper over mushrooms, tomato and onion, sweet potato and roasted asparagus and kale. Yup- we love our veggies!
The night was capped off with some much needed couch/tv time catching up on Top Chef and Modern Family. It was pretty much a perfect Valentine’s Day.
One more thing- have you heard of this movie? Totally up my alley. I want to see it!
Have a great weekend!
Did you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you prefer to go out or eat at home (in general)?

I’m a fan of eating in–I like to cook and like to pick and choose what goes on my plate!
Cheesr to sweat pants! I think your dinner looks better than the mass stuff they crank out at restaurants on Valentine’s Day.
Getting flowers IS about the best thing ever.
I wasn’t expecting any, and Mark surprised me by leaving them in my car (buckled in even) when he dropped my car back onto campus yesterday.
I love eating in! Other than ethnic foods I don’t know how to make I would almost always choose to eat at home. I have never tried Turbot before but it sounds really good. Do you cook it the same as you would salmon?
Boy, your V-day dinner looks delicious. I haven’t seen the movie you linked to, but it does look interesting. Poverty and access to good food is definitely an issue that should be brought to the forefront.
I love celebrating V-day with my man! We had a cozy night in, which is how we like it. And I ate chocolate in bed–mmmmmm!
1. your hubby is so sweet! 2. I need a massage so bad. 3. I need to try turbot 4. we aren’t celebrating until next weekend. I’m so excited to be hanging out with Sarah this weekend. Wish you could join us!!
I’m so jealous that you have both Trader Joes and Whole Foods. I have none of those! Makes me sad. We were suppose to go out to eat but my son had baseball practice. We had egg white wraps. Nothing fabulous, that’s for sure. Your dinner looks so good! Have a great weekend.

Don’t be too jealous- I still have to drive a long way to get to them. I am definitely jealous of people that live 5 minutes away from one!
I was at WF today! I totally would have check on the Turbot for you. I’ve had it before – deeelicious, but I’ve never cooked it myself. I’m so glad TJ’s is coming to CO (Boulder) this year!!
Yes PLEASE let me know! Otherwise I’ll have to pack a bunch in my suitcase!
Pretty roses! I do love going out to eat actually, but for Valentine’s Day I would prefer to stay in since it’s most likely so crowded everywhere.
We totally ate in, too. We actually went on our first Valentine’s date out last year, and it was fun, but it wasn’t nearly as cozy and romantic as cooking something nice at home…in our home.
Definitely home too!!! We just got Chinese because I was teaching pretty late. I hate going out on busy nights though!
Unless it is Whole Foods, I totally prefer eating at home. I like being comfortable…and knowing exactly what is in my food! Sounds like you had a great day.
And I need to see that movie!!!!!
Ahhh I totally get you. I get a lot of crap for preferring to eat at Whole Foods to almost anywhere else. I like to pick out EXACTLY what I want!
