Wow, WIAW is almost out of its 20s- the 30th post will be next week! How exciting!
For this week’s post, I’m showing my eats from last Friday.
I love Friday mornings. I teach Bodypump at 7:00 am, which is so much easier to wake up for than my 5:30 am classes on Monday and Tuesday! Since I only teach the one class on Fridays, I typically get to the gym a little early to fit a little cardio in. I actually really look forward to that cardio time- it’s the one and only time of the week that I use a cardio machine (not including a Spin bike of course), and I usually just zone out with a book. This particular morning featured The Happiness Project and the stair climber. After that, I taught Bodypump and came back home to create this masterpiece:
Ahhhh… the Vitamix flower- it’s only achieved when a smoothie reaches the absolute perfect consistency and has the perfect balance of ingredients. I know that Laura gets just as excited as I do about this sight.
In that smoothie was all of this:
All of the same ingredients as the recovery smoothie, plus a little bit of frozen spinach and cinnamon.
Perfection.
I had a massage appointment at 10:00, so I made a quick breakfast before I left.
It started with a cup of coffee…
And also included a very atypical breakfast for me: a delicious runny egg on a piece of Ezekiel flax bread (toasted) and a tangelo.
I rarely ever eat a savory breakfast, but this tasted really good.
I had scheduled all of my clients to train with me Monday-Thursday so that I could have Friday afternoon off. It was a great decision! A while after returning home from my massage, I made lunch.
Beyond Meat “chicken” salad (Beyond meat, chopped apple and red onion, dijon mustard and Veganaise) with mixed greens on a Flat Out wrap and roasted red cabbage. This was so good!
I also had a handful or two of these:
And far too many handfuls of KIND Healthy Grains, which are not pictured. (This was all before hypnosis, obviously.)
Since it was a Friday, that meant pizza and beer! We almost always make pizza for dinner on Friday. I never get sick of it (because it’s so easy to make something different every time) and it’s nice to not have to think about what to make for dinner.
I had a simple mixed greens and tomato salad
And pizza made on a “cheesy” crust. The crust was SO good, I will definitely be making it again!
The “cheese” was not good at all. I will not be topping my pizza with Teese again. Barf.
I used this beer for the crust (and drank the rest with my pizza).
I’m not a big light beer fan (and admittedly a major beer snob!), but this one is pretty darn good!
Another Friday night tradition (most of the time) is popcorn. We usually buy kernels and pop them in an air-popper, but this is my go-to when I’m feeling lazy:
It was topped with a little bit of melted butter and sea salt. Mmmmm.
Water tally for the day:
Woohoo!
Enjoy your Wednesday!
Are you a savory or sweet breakfast person (or do you like a variety)?

I love eggs–anytime of day. But I can eat anything for breakfast, smoothie, cereal, cold pizza. I HAVE to eat something in the morning.
I haven’t had a smoothie in so long! They’re usually warm-weather meals for me, but I’m starting to get in the mood for one.
I have so many things to comment on!
(a) I want a Vitamix so badly. So.
(b) Savory breakfasts are my favorite! Eggs are pretty much my favorite food on the planet.
(c) We don’t have an air-popper, so we just use a little brown paper bag for air-popping our popcorn in the microwave. And we reuse the bag! It’s up with a magnet attached to the side of our fridge.
I’m definitely a savory breakfast person. Though I have a major sweet tooth in general, I find that sweet breakfasts don’t make me feel satisfied afterward the way savory ones do.
I love my air popper. I do a lot of popcorn, nutritional yeast and hot sauce. Good combo!
That smoothie looks incredible! I’ve been craving smoothies like crazy lately, I just might have to make one today!
Seeing a savory breakfast like that LOOKS good, but I always refer back to my sweeter type breakfast of oatbran. I just can’t let go of the cinnamon, berries and nut butter combo. I’m such a creature of habit!!
Everything looks delicious!! I usually prefer sweet breakfasts – oatmeal, smoothies, pancakes, waffles, and French toast are my favorites!
Yes! The vitamix flower. I remember when Alton Brown had an episode on his show about smoothies – and the perfect one is achieved when you can see the vortex (I think he called it that.)
mmm that smoothie looks a delicious consistency – i wish i had a vitamix!!
I almost always go for oatmeal for breakfast but on of my favorite breakfasts is dippy eggs in toast! yum!
I’m definitely more of a sweet breakfast person, but you can’t beat a great omelet either.
I’m exclusively a savory breakfast person. Sometimes I’ll do a sweet breakfast for dinner (or as a snack – like a bowl of cereal or something) but if I eat something sweet in the morning, it usually makes me feel sick to my stomach!
Yum! This all looks delish. I think I could eat pizza every week, too if my boyfriend liked pizza as much as me (unfortunately, he does not).
Also, I think I’d eat a savory breakfast every day. I much prefer runny eggs! I say that, though, and I bet if I actually did it I wouldn’t like it quite as much …
Sounds like an amazing Friday
I just found your blog and am also from Frederick, yay! Flying Dog is the best! Where do you go to get the Beyond Meat chicken?
You have some awesome meals! I like pizza on the weekends too—or ANY day. Hah. I LOVE pizza. Love it.
Runny eggs….mmmmmm!
Holy crap, I need a vitamix, that smoothie is the portrait of perfection.
Runny eggs on toast is my idea of a perfect breakfast
Haha I’m familiar with the Vitamix flower!!
Looks great!
Pretty cool that you can get popcorn without salt or oil.
I need a vitamix in my life. Smoothie. So THICK.
Sweet breakfast…but every now and then I get a weird (for me) craving for something savory. I do recall one morning I went Asian and ate soup.
Teese IS a tease. It is FOUL. I had the nacho cheese version and tried to choke it down but had to throw most of it away.
Love those frozen mango chunks. They are like frozen pops when eaten straight from the freezer, plus they cook in recipes well, and thaw fabulously–keeping their form–so it is a win-win (win?).
My breakfasts are almost always on the sweeter side. I have not had positive outcomes with vegan cheeses.
I don’t have a Vitamix so it doesn’t happen quite as often for me, but I absolutely love when I get that perfect smoothie consistency as well!
I go back and forth on the sweet vs savory breakfast thing…most of the time it comes in spurts…all I’ll want for a week straight is eggs, then the next I’m all about yogurt bowls and pancakes! Trying to fit some oatmeal in there somewhere too…I’ve been craving it like crazy lately and it’s just far too long since I’ve had a big ol’ bowl of it! Love the #yolkporn shot! And I’m TOOOOOtally jealous of your Vitamix “flower”…just RUB it in why don’tcha!
Great idea to take a day to have all to yourself! A massage, pizza, and popcorn? Sounds like a damn good day to me!
