I'm Attending Blend

[Good] Friends, Movies & News!

I was really spoiled with the weather last weekend. I got a taste of spring, and I loved it.

This past weekend was quite the opposite- cold, rainy, dark, windy and just not conducive to being outside at all. So, admittedly, I was pretty lazy for a large portion of it. And I’m just fine with that.

As dreary as the weather was, there were definitely a few very high points! And actually- one of those very high points (hence the good news part of the title of this post) is that I can finally say that we’ve sold our house! We actually accepted an offer in the middle of February and signed an initial contract then. But, there have been a lot of other steps in the process (some that I had no idea about!) to get through before we could be really confident that our house was actually “sold.” For the last month, Greg and I have both had to be very patient, flexible and optimistic (yet realistic) and just… wait. We got word from our realtor on Thursday that everything was good to go, and the last thing we had been waiting on passed with flying colors. And I finally was about to exhale. (And I never, ever want to sell a house again!)

I know that we are really lucky that our house sold so quickly, but the market around here is hot right now, and that seems to be the trend. We’ll be in Maryland until the end of April and then driving 1,600 miles to Colorado…

I’m pretty sure it will start to sink in soon that it’s not a dream, and that this is really happening. :)

Getting back to the rest of the weekend…

I took the metro down to DC to meet up with my dear friend Ashley for lunch on Friday!

Notice the bags under my eyes? That’s from not sleeping for almost 2 months, thanks to anxiety about selling the house. Luckily that is all gone now. :)

Like any other cliché healthy living bloggers, we met up at Whole Foods for lunch. And I’m pretty sure that you already know that I am 100% fine with that- and that it would probably be the first place I would choose anyway! Where else can I get a salad with anything I want on it?

They had my absolute favorite item in the world on the salad bar: curried tempeh.

I took a photo of the ingredients and made my own version the next day! Recipe coming soon.

It was so good to catch up with Ashley and we probably could have talked and laughed for the entire afternoon, but eventually had to part ways. We were both excited (yes, another cliché blogger photo coming up!) to finally find Quest Bars before we left Whole Foods!

I actually went to GNC later on in the weekend (buy 3 get 1 free!) and got a few other flavors to try. And yeah, I get the hype- they are really good (especially when they’re heated up for a few seconds!).

Everything else that happened between Friday evening and Saturday night was pretty lazy and uneventful, except that Greg and I did watch two really good movies. The first was on Friday night and was free from Amazon Prime:

This was so cute. I was smiling through so much of it. I really, really loved Jenna Fischer and Chris Messina.

Our Saturday night selection was a rental from DirecTv:

Completely different from the movie we watched Friday, but every bit as good. Better than I expected, even!

On Sunday, I taught Spinning class bright and early (in a bright green top!) and came home and made myself the best Shamrock Smoothie yet. That was about as festive as I got.

A little later on in the morning, I met up with my good friend April to cash in the birthday present she got for me (which was totally generous), and also managed to get the first item of my 33 While 33 list checked off!

massage envy

I got a facial! It was fantastic. If you live in the Frederick area, I highly recommend going to Massage Envy and making an appointment with Rachael. She was wonderful and I hope that I am able to go back there one more time before we move!

My post-facial glow:

Notice the bags under my eyes? Yeah, neither do I. :)

I absolutely love getting my face massaged, so I knew that a facial would be right up my alley. And the fact that it will help my skin stay clear (and, maybe even younger looking?) is an added bonus. I’m pretty sure I’m hooked. :)

The rest of the day was (again) pretty lazy, but Greg and I eventually managed to cook a pretty bangin’ dinner:

Better for You Meatloaf (made with ground bison), Japanese sweet potato and Savoy cabbage and red onion sauteed in tiny bit of butter and chicken broth with mustard seeds, salt, pepper and apple cider vinegar. And, of course, a Guinness.

It may have not been the “traditional” St. Patrick’s Day meal, but it definitely hit the spot! (Although I really still want some soda bread..).

Let me leave you with one final thought. This is a quote that I heard Kelly Olexa say in a vlog last week, and it’s become my mantra.

reaction

I have thought about that quote over and over again. I have a tendency to freak out or worry about things that haven’t even happened. And that doesn’t do me any good. As Kelly says: Whatever it is that comes your way, you’ll handle it! Go with the flow, deal with things as they come, and every little thing is gonna be alright.

Here’s to a great week!

Do you have any good news (or have you seen any good movies lately)? How was your weekend?
