I was really spoiled with the weather last weekend. I got a taste of spring, and I loved it.
This past weekend was quite the opposite- cold, rainy, dark, windy and just not conducive to being outside at all. So, admittedly, I was pretty lazy for a large portion of it. And I’m just fine with that.
As dreary as the weather was, there were definitely a few very high points! And actually- one of those very high points (hence the good news part of the title of this post) is that I can finally say that we’ve sold our house! We actually accepted an offer in the middle of February and signed an initial contract then. But, there have been a lot of other steps in the process (some that I had no idea about!) to get through before we could be really confident that our house was actually “sold.” For the last month, Greg and I have both had to be very patient, flexible and optimistic (yet realistic) and just… wait. We got word from our realtor on Thursday that everything was good to go, and the last thing we had been waiting on passed with flying colors. And I finally was about to exhale. (And I never, ever want to sell a house again!)
I know that we are really lucky that our house sold so quickly, but the market around here is hot right now, and that seems to be the trend. We’ll be in Maryland until the end of April and then driving 1,600 miles to Colorado…
I’m pretty sure it will start to sink in soon that it’s not a dream, and that this is really happening.

Getting back to the rest of the weekend…
I took the metro down to DC to meet up with my dear friend Ashley for lunch on Friday!
Notice the bags under my eyes? That’s from not sleeping for almost 2 months, thanks to anxiety about selling the house. Luckily that is all gone now.
Like any other cliché healthy living bloggers, we met up at Whole Foods for lunch. And I’m pretty sure that you already know that I am 100% fine with that- and that it would probably be the first place I would choose anyway! Where else can I get a salad with anything I want on it?
They had my absolute favorite item in the world on the salad bar: curried tempeh.
I took a photo of the ingredients and made my own version the next day! Recipe coming soon.
It was so good to catch up with Ashley and we probably could have talked and laughed for the entire afternoon, but eventually had to part ways. We were both excited (yes, another cliché blogger photo coming up!) to finally find Quest Bars before we left Whole Foods!
I actually went to GNC later on in the weekend (buy 3 get 1 free!) and got a few other flavors to try. And yeah, I get the hype- they are really good (especially when they’re heated up for a few seconds!).
Everything else that happened between Friday evening and Saturday night was pretty lazy and uneventful, except that Greg and I did watch two really good movies. The first was on Friday night and was free from Amazon Prime:
This was so cute. I was smiling through so much of it. I really, really loved Jenna Fischer and Chris Messina.
Our Saturday night selection was a rental from DirecTv:
Completely different from the movie we watched Friday, but every bit as good. Better than I expected, even!

On Sunday, I taught Spinning class bright and early (in a bright green top!) and came home and made myself the best Shamrock Smoothie yet. That was about as festive as I got.
A little later on in the morning, I met up with my good friend April to cash in the birthday present she got for me (which was totally generous), and also managed to get the first item of my 33 While 33 list checked off!
I got a facial! It was fantastic. If you live in the Frederick area, I highly recommend going to Massage Envy and making an appointment with Rachael. She was wonderful and I hope that I am able to go back there one more time before we move!
My post-facial glow:
Notice the bags under my eyes? Yeah, neither do I.
I absolutely love getting my face massaged, so I knew that a facial would be right up my alley. And the fact that it will help my skin stay clear (and, maybe even younger looking?) is an added bonus. I’m pretty sure I’m hooked.
The rest of the day was (again) pretty lazy, but Greg and I eventually managed to cook a pretty bangin’ dinner:
Better for You Meatloaf (made with ground bison), Japanese sweet potato and Savoy cabbage and red onion sauteed in tiny bit of butter and chicken broth with mustard seeds, salt, pepper and apple cider vinegar. And, of course, a Guinness.
It may have not been the “traditional” St. Patrick’s Day meal, but it definitely hit the spot! (Although I really still want some soda bread..).
Let me leave you with one final thought. This is a quote that I heard Kelly Olexa say in a vlog last week, and it’s become my mantra.
I have thought about that quote over and over again. I have a tendency to freak out or worry about things that haven’t even happened. And that doesn’t do me any good. As Kelly says: Whatever it is that comes your way, you’ll handle it! Go with the flow, deal with things as they come, and every little thing is gonna be alright.
Here’s to a great week!
Do you have any good news (or have you seen any good movies lately)? How was your weekend?

Very exciting news, Lauren! Congratulations on selling your house. Now that that’s done it will be all positive stuff from here on out…maybe some challenges but all for good reason. I like your mantra…I could use that one as well (I think it’s a woman thing to worry!)…thanks for sharing!
Thank you Laura! I definitely like to think that we’re all presented with as much as we can handle- and grow from challenges. And I have yet to meet a woman that doesn’t worry!
I am SO excited for you guys!
YAYAYAYAYA!
I’ll have a guest room waiting for you!
So excited for you! Yay for more sleep too. haha Gosh, I haven’t had WF salad or hot bar in soooooo long (3 or 4 years, maybe?) I really need to rememdy that ASAP.
You DO need to! I go seldom enough that I still get excited about it. I’m sure that might change when we move, since there’s a WF on every corner in CO.
so wait … did you get a house in CO yet??
YESSS. This is great news!!!
Also, I’ve wanted to watch that mechanical man movie for a while. Mark and I spent the weekend finishing off “Raising Hope” (when I wasn’t working on my stupid poster!).
No- we’re renting until we know where we want to live. I’m flying out the first week of April to find a place for us to live.
WATCH THE MOVIE! And then come tell me how much you love it.
Congrats!
When we saw Argo, everyone stood up and applauded when it finished!
I’m so excited for you! You look so relieved in your last photo and I can imagine why!!! I haven’t seen Argo yet, but do want to. I just have a little ADD when it comes to watching movies at home. I need to get on that.
I have that ADD too, but I just MAKE myself sit and relax. No phone, ipad, just curl up with a blanket and a dog.
Searching for Sugar Man is a must see movie!
Woo hoo congrats! We were just planning our Denver trip. Anything that you recommend that we have to do there? Aside from seeing you, of course!
You know I already emailed you a book (and will happily add more chapters to that), but Summit County is a MUST. And of course you’ll see me. I’ll be happy to go out there with you!

Congrats on selling the house and good luck with your move! Weirdly, this post never showed up in my Google Reader, only the one before and after…?!
Hmmm… maybe Google Reader is rebelling since it’s going to be gone soon? Glad you found the posts though!
And Thanks!!
Congrats on selling your house! We may be in the same boat soon so I may ask you for some tips! I’ll trade tips for more Quest bars – aren’t they delicious!! So excited for your move and Colorado is going to be ah-mazing!!!
Feel free to ask away! I’m a PRO now.
And thanks!
Congrats on selling your house! I feel like everyone I know is moving out to Denver. I hear great things- you should love it there! that is going to be one heck of a drive- what a way to see our beautiful country! I’m very excited for you!
I feel like everyone I know has moved out there over the last 2 years! I can’t wait to join them (finally)!
Thanks for the kind words.
I bet Denver is beautiful! Congratulations! I can’t wait to read about your new adventures in Denver though I also love reading about your adventures in my neck of the woods
I will have to try out Massage Envy for my first facial- guess it’s time, I’m 33 also!
Thank you!!
I know that Structures Salon does facials too- and used to (and may still) do a facial “happy hour” for a really cheap price. You should check them out too!
We just watched Argo too! So good. I’m glad it was too – I had high expectations after the Oscars.
Or one of those awards shows. Oscars is movies, right?
[...] was definitely packed with fun stuff, unlike the weekend before where Greg and I pretty much sat around the house the whole time and enjoyed being lazy. I have a feeling that we won’t be taking any more lazy weekends for [...]
[...] When I met Ashley there for lunch a few weeks ago, it dawned on me that I could probably figure out how to make this incredible salad at home. Since Whole Foods posts the ingredients for each dish, it wasn’t that hard to figure out what was in it! I snapped a photo with my trusty smart and phone and got to work. The only thing that I had to figure out were the measurements. Through just a little bit of trial and error, I think I’ve got it! [...]
